SHELTON – The Boys & Girls Club of the Lower Naugatuck Valley has selected the honorees of this year’s Service to Youth Awards and will be holding a ceremony to honor the individuals on May 9, 2024 at The Stone Barn at Whitney Farms in Monroe, CT. The event is a ticketed, public event and has most recently evolved into a cocktail party and award program.

Minuteman Press of Shelton (owner Harry Burlakoff) has been chosen as the recipient of the Champion of Youth Award. Brian Marcucio has been chosen as the Alumni Hall of Fame Award recipient. Jason Carlucci owner of Dew Drop Inn and Matthew Calandro owner of Caloroso Eatery & Bar will both be honored with the From The Heart Award.

The Raymond P. Lavietes Service to Youth Award is the highest honor the Club can present to an individual, named after beloved Club friend and supporter, Ray Lavietes, who helped make our Boys & Girls Club a frontrunner in the provision of services to youth through his dedication and commitment. This award honors an individual or individuals worthy of recognition due to their involvement in serving the youth of our community.

The Champion of Youth Award is the highest honor our Boys & Girls Club can award a company/organization. It is presented to those worthy of recognition due to their involvement in serving the youth of our community. This honor is presented for outstanding leadership and untiring dedication to youth activities, distinguished record in volunteer service with an emphasis on youth, and exceptional support of our Boys & Girls Club.

Alumni Hall of Fame Award recognizes former members and staff for their contributions to society, outstanding leadership, dedication to children, and service to the community and Boys & Girls Clubs.

From the Heart Award is the highest honor our Boys & Girls Club can award an individual(s) or an organization who go above and beyond, contributing their time, talent, and/or treasure in ways that directly impact our members. Their special acts of caring are often the touch that makes their chosen program, event, or unit a success.
