Della Volpe Sworn In For Sixth Term

In a short ceremony Tuesday evening, 24 elected officials were sworn into office at the Ansonia City Hall.

Mayor James Della Volpe, a democrat, began his record sixth term in office, and then swore in members of the Board of Aldermen and Board of Education and the city clerk, city treasurer and city sheriffs.

Admitting the city, state and country is facing tough economic times, Della Volpe pledged to move the city forward and keep the government transparent.

We will provide honest, transparent and strong leadership for our community,” Della Volpe told the crowd that packed the aldermanic chambers and poured out into the hallway at City Hall.

My door is always open for your ideas and suggestions,” Della Volpe said.

Kevin Blake, the city counsel who presided over the ceremony, said Della Volpe is set to break the record for longest serving mayor with this term.

I guess that means Del you’re doing a great job,” Blake said.

Blake and Della Volpe each recognized long-term alderman Peter Danielczuk, who did not run for re-election because he moved out of district.

The board of aldermen welcomed two new comers: Democrat Edward Adamowski and Republican John Marini.
