A declaration from the city’s assessor shows the grand list in Derby grew ever so slightly last year.
The grand list is a listing of all taxable properties in the city. It’s an important number because it helps Derby establish a tax rate each year.
A document signed Jan. 31 by Derby Assessor Robert Coates shows the city’s net grand list — that is, counting tax exemptions — increased by $2.1 million in a year.
Mayor Anita Dugatto said Friday (Feb. 21) that she has begun meeting with department leaders — along with finance director Tom Thompson and administrative assistant Henry Domurad — to get a handle on next year’s budget.
