Derby Main Street To Be Paved Starting Tuesday, Dec. 3

DERBY – Expect delays this week as contractors start to pave Main Street/Route 34 in downtown Derby.

Temporary lane closures are expected from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. starting Tuesday, Dec. 3 through Friday, Dec. 6, according to a press release from the state Department of Transportation shared by Mayor Joseph DiMartino’s office.

Temporary lane closures are also expected from 7 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 8 to 5 a.m. Monday, Dec. 9.

Traffic control signing patterns, City of Derby municipal police and uniformed flaggers will guide motorists through the work zone,” according to the DOT.

The work is part of the state DOT’s Main Street/Route 34 widening project, which is scheduled to be completed in July. It’s an $18.7 million job being done by C.J. Fucci, Inc.

Motorists should be aware that modifications or extensions to this schedule may become necessary due to weather delays or other unforeseen conditions,” according to the DOT. Motorists are advised to maintain a safe speed when driving in this area.”

The DOT press release pegs the project completion date as July 11, 2025. That’s one month later than officials said in October.
