A Derby man pleaded guilty in federal court today to producing child pornography after a June 2010 search of his home revealed more than 600 explicit pictures of minors, federal prosecutors said.
He will face up to 30 years behind bars when sentenced.
The man, Matthew Maffucci, 31, pleaded guilty before U.S. Magistrate Judge Donna F. Martinez in Hartford to one count of production of child pornography, according to a press release issued Wednesday afternoon by U.S. Attorney David B. Fein.
Fein said that according to court documents and statements made in court, Maffucci admitted to producing child pornography between 2004 and March 2010.
The FBI conducted a search of Maffucci’s residence and seized a computer and other computer storage media in June 2010 which revealed more than 600 images of minors, including children under the age of 12, engaged in sexually explicit conduct, the release said.
Maffucci will face up to 30 years in prison — 15 of which are mandatory — at his sentencing, scheduled for June 6 before U.S. District Judge Robert N. Chatigny.
The case was investigated by the FBI and the Connecticut Computer Crimes Task Force, with assistance from Derby police.
The case is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Anastasia E. King.
