Derby Needs A New Finance Director

Tom Thompson, Derby’s finance director since August 2012, has decided to terminate his relationship” with the city, according to a memo circulated by Mayor Anita Dugatto Jan. 29.

This is to inform you that Tom Thompson has decided to terminate his relationship with the City of Derby as the City’s finance director effective immediately,” according to the mayor’s letter.

Dugatto said Thompson’s duties would be divided among two City Hall employees, in addition to City Treasurer Keith McLiverty and the mayor’s office, until a replacement is found.”

I want to thank Tom for his service to the City of Derby and wish him well in his future endeavors,” Dugatto said in the memo.

In an email Friday night, the mayor said Thompson simply wasn’t happy in Derby.

Thompson was hired in August 2012 at a starting part-time salary of $60,000, according to an article in the New Haven Register.

Thompson replaced Henry Domurad, whose separation from the city as finance director under Mayor Anthony Staffieri triggered a lawsuit.

Domurad now works in the mayor’s office.

The mayor’s memo is published below:
