The Valley Indy received a message from Derby Public Works Director Ron Culmo Sunday night about storm clean-up.
Derby DPW will start removing fallen trees and branches starting today (Monday, Aug. 29). The clean-up is expected to take weeks.
Trees that fell on roads will be dealt with first.
Residents who need trees hauled away from their properties should cut them up into segments no longer than six feet, then pile them in an orderly fashion.
The piles should be placed on the curb for pick-up. The DPW cannot remove trees from private property.
If this is not done, Derby DPW will not pick the piles up.
Because of the large amount of trees and branches down, Derby DPW asks residents to call the City Garage at 203 – 736-1468 to have their piles removed.
