Derby Mayor Rich Dziekan.
Mayor Rich Dziekan would like to extend his heartfelt gratitude to the businesses who donated to this year’s Independence Day Fireworks.
Because of overwhelming generosity, tonight’s fireworks will be fully funded by local donors.
The fireworks show is scheduled for about 9 p.m. tonight (Tuesday, July 3) above the Housatonic River between downtown Derby and Shelton.
Every year, Derby shares the cost of the fireworks with Shelton, and this year each municipality was responsible for $13,000.
The Mayor’s office first sent out letters to local businesses in April seeking donations and sent out a second wave of follow-up letters in early June.
Any money that is raised above and beyond the $13,000 will be set aside for next year.
Below is a list of donors as of July 2 at 4 p.m.
