Both students and staff at Emmett O’Brien Technical High School, 141 Prindle Ave., Ansonia, will be celebrating pink all day on Friday, Oct. 25, beginning in the morning when 18 teams will compete in a volleyball tournament.
The teams will play all day long until the winning team is crowned in the afternoon.
Purchasing an Emmett O’Brien T‑shirt or wristband is the admission price to the game and pink carnations will be sold. Pink Day will conclude in the evening with a dance. All funds raised will benefit The Hewitt Center for Breast Wellness at Griffin Hospital.
The Valley Goes Pink is a grass roots, community-wide effort throughout the Lower Naugatuck Valley to create awareness about breast cancer and the importance of early detection, support The Hewitt Center for Breast Wellness at Griffin Hospital, and showcase partnering organizations — all at the same time.
Throughout October, Valley towns are invited to host a variety of unique fundraising events and marketing programs to raise awareness and support for the cause.
From hosting Pink Parties in homes, to “pinkifying” businesses with ribbons or lights, or hosting dress down days and auctions – the possibilities are endless.
