At about 6:04 p.m., Beacon Hose Co. No. 1 was dispatched to Skokorat Road for a report of a fire. Upon arrival, firefighters found heavy fire extending from the garage to the second floor.
Two more engines arrived, as well as mutual aid partners from Bethany, Oxford, and Seymour, according to a Beacon Hose Facebook post. For about 45 minutes, they battled the blaze and got it under control. The family evacuated safely with their two dogs, but all of their possessions were lost.
The American Red Cross arrived on scene to support the family. The house was a total loss, according to the GoFundMe.
The Beacon Falls Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating the cause of the fire.
