I wanted to write a quick note to the citizens of Derby to explain my comments in the election night story.
It was a close, exhausting race.
Before the results were announced, I was asked a hypothetical question and I gave a hypothetical reply.
Art Gerckens (the individual) made a comment that Art Gerckens (the public servant) should not have made.
Although Mr. Staffieri and I have our differences, I can assure you that I have always and will always work for the good of Derby.
I am confident in my ability to treat him respectfully and professionally, and I know he will do the same.
The people have spoken and it’s time to put our differences aside for the good of the city.
