Griffin Hospital recently donated more than $2,000 to Spooner House in Shelton to help stock the shelter’s food bank.
Griffin Hospital raised the donation through its Spring Basket Raffle in which hospital departments put together baskets for the special fundraising effort.
“This donation will go a long way in helping us continue to provide food to those in need,” said Deborah L. Grisgraber, board chairman of Spooner House. “This will allow us to continue to support the double digit increases that we continue to see in our food bank.”
The raffle was organized by the Planetree Arts and Entertainment Committee at Griffin Hospital. Last winter, Griffin Hospital held a Holiday Wonderland of Trees fundraiser that collected more than $6,000 and additional canned goods for Spooner House.
As the flagship for Planetree Inc., Griffin Hospital is dedicated to working with area organizations to improve the health and welfare of its community.
