Klarides: Help The Paugies’ Boot Drive Friday

This Thanksgiving, please join Rep. Themis Klarides (R‑114) in taking a few moments to reflect on how very fortunate many of us are for our health, family, and happiness.

But let us also consider those who are less fortunate — many of whom may need our assistance over the holidays.

If you would like to make a donation or lend a helping hand to others in your community, there are numerous opportunities to volunteer throughout Connecticut.

For residents of Derby, Derby’s Paugassett Hook and Ladder Co. No. 4 will be hosting a Boot Drive on Friday, November 28th from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
in front of the firehouse at 75 Derby Ave on Route 34.

To ease the burden on local taxpayers, local firefighters rely on fundraising events as their main source of income to keep the Derby Volunteer Fire Department up and running.

According to Fire Investigator Charles Stankye, Jr., any money raised in the Boot Drive will be used towards purchasing much-needed sleeping accommodations for members during storms and inclement weather, as well as a skid mount pump and tank to be used on the brush truck. This truck is used extensively throughout the brush fire season. Funds will also be used to support various youth activities, such as the Eagle Scouts, and other charitable organizations throughout the year.

I would like to express my genuine gratitude to the Derby Firefighters who make us proud every day by bravely and selflessly taking time away from their jobs and loved ones to provide exceptional fire and rescue services and keep our homes and families safe,” said Rep. Klarides (R‑114). I hope that the entire community will join me in demonstrating a deep appreciation and generosity for our local heroes this holiday season.”
