Legion Rocket Liftoff July 4

The following was sent to the Valley Indy:

The Gordon-Visselli American Legion Post 50 of Ansonia will once again be hosting the Legion Liftoff to celebrate Independence Day. Approximately 50, yes, 50, model rockets will be launched July 4th , from 10:00 – 11:30 at Nelligan Park on Doyle Drive in Ansonia.

This is a free, family fun event. Commander Mike Heise invites you to bring blankets and lawn chairs (there is some limited bleacher seating also) and take in the excitement during this holiday celebration. Kids will be invited to retrieve rockets as they parachute down and may get a chance to actually push the launch buttons. There will be other interactive opportunities also that will add to the fun along with a few surprises.

New this year is a large copy of the Declaration of Independence that those in attendance will be invited to reaffirm by signing with one of our quill pens.

Free water and freeze pops will be on hand to ward off the heat. A great way to start the Independence Day weekend. Don’t miss out on the fun!
