Letter: Mayor Elect Says He Will Strive For Unity In Derby

On Tuesday November 7, 2023, the residents of Derby voted to take their city back.

I owe a sincere thank you to everyone who voted for me and the rest of the slate on Election Day. I am humbled by the decision of the residents of Derby, as you entrusted me to lead us towards a more financially stable city, and a more united community. Even if you did not vote for me, or anyone on our slate, thank you for exercising your right to vote. That alone is so important. I will work for you regardless of your political affiliation and over the next two years, I will work to earn your support.

I know everyone who was elected from our slate is excited and ready to get to work, myself included. My administration will be transparent, open to ideas from all residents, and will treat everyone with the utmost respect. We have a lot of work to do, but I am confident that we will get the city morally, and financially, back on track.

I will always be available to speak with the residents of Derby, whether that’s in-person, via email, Facebook message or phone call. Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions, or concerns. This is your city and I was elected to work for you.

- Joe DiMartino
Derby Mayor-Elect
