Letter: Vote For Zani In Seymour

I know in my heart that if you have ever served your community in any way, shape or form, that you have heard, time and time again, these words: We need to get more young people involved.”

Maybe it was when you were doing volunteer work for your church, your children’s school or recreation program, scouts, our historical society, the Christmas Parade, the Pumpkin Festival, or any number of other special projects that are part our towns fabric.

Well, thank God I’ve lived long enough to see that plea answered.

This time we Seymourites have a young man who knows the value of giving back. He is well educated, very familiar with the workings of civic responsibility and he is not only dedicated to our town, but more importantly, he wants to serve you and me. He wants to preserve what is best about Seymour and to work toward incorporating new and vital programs to enhance life for all neighbors, young and old.

By electing Zani, we will be sending a message loud and clear to other young people in our town to get involved,” to give back, to take ownership of this place we all call home.

Zani, like you and I, comes from the average American family. His grandparents got their start in this country like most of ours did, by working hard in our local factories. His parents, the next generation, worked hard and sacrificed and became small business owners.” They, in turn, saw to it that their son would have the privilege of attending college and advancing his education. Zani proved himself through hard work and innovation and determination to achieve academic excellence in college by not only winning the prestigious Presidential Scholarship,” but was chosen by his peers at the University of New Haven to serve as their Student Government President.

We need to give this local young man a chance. We, as tax payers, helped to educate him at Chatfield School, Seymour Middle School and Seymour High School. His parents taught him the value of hard work, and more importantly, they taught Zani that responsibility and hard work go hand in hand in passing forward and giving back to us in this place we call home: Seymour.

On Nov. 3rd, vote for Zani!
