Milford Teen Charged In Connection To Fatal Shelton Stabbing

SHELTON — A 16-year-old juvenile from Milford has been charged in the fatal stabbing of 17-year-old James McGrath of Shelton.

Shelton police Detective Richard Bango announced the arrest in a written statement Wednesday morning. The suspect’s name was not released.

The teen suspect was charged today (May 18) with murder, and three counts of first-degree assault. The teen is being held on a $2 million bond pending a court appearance today.

Additional details have not been released.

According to previously released police info, McGrath, the victim, was one of four people stabbed late Saturday (May 14) in a residential neighborhood on Laurel Glen Drive. Police responded to the scene at 11:55 p.m.

McGrath was a junior at Fairfield Prep, where a service was held Monday to remember McGrath and offer support for the young man’s family.
