Naugatuck River Clean-up Slated For Nov. 12

For the seventh year in a row, the employees at Thule Corporation on Silvermine Road in Seymour will volunteer their time to cleanup the waterways in the Naugatuck Valley.

The clean-up will take place at 9 a.m., Nov. 12.

Three years ago it was O’Sullivan’s Island in Derby; two years ago over 25 Thule employees hauled five dump truck loads of shopping carts, bicycles and garbage out of the Naugatuck River in downtown Seymour. And last year they cleaned Silvermine Road and Clinton Road.

This year employees will focus on downtown Seymour at the Naugatuck River and, also, Bladen’s Brook from Chatfield Street to Skokorat Street.

By working in cooperation with the Housatonic Valley Association, Town of Seymour, the Seymour Land Trust, and the Nesteriak Family they will make a clean sweep of these chosen areas.

Thule is a company that makes products that help people to enjoy the outdoors. By helping cleanup the waterways in Connecticut we are helping to preserve these special and scenic spots.” said TJ Hanson, Thule’s sport and cargo Business Unit Director.
