New Alderman Named In Ansonia

The Ansonia Board of Aldermen has a new member.

Howard Madigosky, 64, was unanimously appointed Tuesday to replace Spero Jordanides as Fifth Ward Alderman.

Jordanides, 88, stepped down this summer after serving more than a decade on the board. He cited a move from his home as the reason, and Aldermen said Jordanides had also fallen ill recently.

Madigosky was formerly the chairman of the Water Pollution Control Authority, which he served on since 1988.

Madigosky said he recently left the WPCA board. Soon after, he received a call from Board of Aldermen President Stephen Blume, asking him to run for Alderman in the November election.

The first question he asked me was: Are you bored yet? I said Not really,’” Madidgosky said.

Regardless, Madigosky agreed to run, and they also named him as Jordanides’ immediate replacement.

At this point, I am just getting my feet wet into this aspect of Ansonia,” Madigosky said Wednesday. And I hope I’m able to make some difference in our town, in a small way as an Alderman.”

Mayor James Della Volpe said Madigosky is a welcome addition to the board.

Howie is a life-long Ansonia resident,” Della Volpe said. He’s very knowledgeable on WPCA issues, and we’re glad to have him on board as an Alderman.”
