New Chiefs Installed At Derby Fire Department

DERBY — The following information was taken from the Derby Fire Department’s Facebook page.

The Derby Fire Department held its promotion and swearing-in ceremony (Jan. 4) at Derby Middle School.

Thomas Biggs, a member of the Paugassett Hook & Ladder Company No. 4, was promoted to chief of the department.

Louis Oliwa from the Derby East End Hose Company No. 3, was promoted to first assistant chief.

Jesse Marino from Storm Engine Co./Ambulance Corps Co. 2 was promoted to second assistant chief.

Sean Fitch from Hotchkiss Hose was sworn in as third assistant chief.

Daniel Mascolo from Co. 2 was sworn in as safety officer, and Father Jeffrey Gubbiotti, pastor at Our Lady Queen of the Apostles Parish in Derby, was sworn in as department chaplain.
