Ansonia police department’s newest detective is James Frolish, a 10-year veteran of the department.
Frolish, who was previously an officer with the department, was approved for the detective’s position by the Board of Aldermen at its December meeting.
Frolish scored the highest in the “grueling exam process” according to Chief of Police Kevin Hale.
“Jim is a very determined investigator,” Hale said. “He gets his teeth into something and he just goes for it.”
The detective position starts at $66,700.
Frolish’s promotion comes after Detective Paul LoCicero retired this past summer after 33 years on the department.
He is expected to begin at the post in January. Hale said a swearing-in ceremony will be scheduled during the first week of January.
Ansonia police also recently hired two new patrol officers — one to fill Frolish’s spot and another one to fill an open spot left when Officer Mustafa Salahuddin retired.
