DERBY — The fire marshal’s office is investigating a fire that was reported at about 6:49 p.m. Friday.
No injuries were reported in the apartment house fire, Derby Fire Department Chief Michael Gloade said. Six people were inside when the fire was reported. Their pets got out unharmed, too.
As of 8 p.m. Friday, the Red Cross was on its way to the scene to help.
Gloade said the first firefighters on scene saw smoke coming from the back of the apartment house on the second floor.
“We started initial operations to try to find the location of the fire. We were able to find the location and knock the fire down,” Gloade said.
The fire appears to have started in a second-floor bedroom. The fire did not extend into other areas of the apartment house.
The address was reported as 115 Roosevelt Drive. The house itself was close to Camptown Avenue, behind Dan’s Garage on Roosevelt Drive.
