Who says there’s nothing to do in the Valley?
Check out these slammin’ events scheduled for the weekend.
Is that the proper use of the word “slammin?”
Anyway, ENJOY!
TO DO, THIS WEEKEND
DRIVE-IN
The Shelton Youth Bureau is playing host to a “drive-in” theater Saturday at about 8:30 p.m. at the River Walk-Veteran’s Park on Canal Street.
This week they’re showing “Hotel for Dogs.”

There’s also a farmer’s market Saturday in the same location from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
HARRY POTTER FOOD DRIVE
According to our calendar, Entertainment Cinemas in the Tri-Town Plaza on Seymour Avenue is sponsoring a food drive Saturday, starting at 11 a.m.
The theater is looking for non-perishables to donate to the Spooner House in Shelton.
Visit www.act-spooner.org for suggestions of food to bring.
Expect a crowd, as the latest Harry Potter flick opens this weekend.
SEYMOUR CLEAN-UP
Volunteers will meet in Gary Park at 10 a.m. Sunday for a clean-up day.
Refreshments will be provided, but please bring any gloves, shovels, rakes, and/or brooms for use during clean-up.
The event is sponsored by the Seymour Pride Committee.
OXFORD RENAISSANCE FAIRE
Saturday and Sunday is the Midsummer Magick Renaissance Faire at Schreiber’s Farm at 648 Quaker Farms Road.
It stars at 11 a.m. and ends at 6:30 p.m.
Organizers describe it as “drama and adventure! High action and low comedy, learning and gaming, and fun for all. Honest tradesmen, wise teachers, dashing rogues, cunning herbalists, ambitious squires, curious scoundrels, and many more characters will greet and interact with you. Come as you are, or come in thy favorite ancient garb – welcome either way!”
