Yes, it was short notice, but hundreds came out Saturday, Dec. 21, 2013 to congratulate the Ansonia High School football team on its third straight state title.
They didn’t share the glory alone, though — they marched with Ansonia youth cheerleaders, who recently brought home a national title.
The Ansonia Youth Cheer Division 8, 10, 12, and 15 cheerleaders competed at the Silver Spurs Arena in Kissimmee, FL for the 2013 AYC National Championships.
The Division 10 & 12 teams are National Champions, and Division 8 & 15 are National Runner-up Champions.
The Valley Indy simply didn’t have the resources to cover Saturday’s parade, which we deeply regret (attribute it to a combination of state labor laws, no money, and an editor’s 8‑month-old with a 102 degree fever).
But we put out a note on Facebook asking people to share their photos, and the result is the wonderful gallery you see below.
Huge thanks go out to John Marini (Ansonia corporation counsel) for passing along more than 100 photos. Also contributing — Betsy Morales, Tiffany Marsh and William Sanders.
Ansonia’s own GWImages also produced a great photo gallery from Saturday’s parade. We highly recommend you click this link to check them out.
Thank you all very much, congratulations on the accomplishment — and an early Merry Christmas to all our neighbors.
Enjoy the photos:
