Police: Ansonia Man Was Breaking Into Cars

Ansonia police charged a man with breaking into cars Thursday.

Timothy Stumpo, 34, of Ansonia, was arrested just before 4 a.m. after he was apprehended at a residence on Harris Road.

A resident had just spotted Stumpo going through cars in the driveway, according to a statement from Ansonia police.

Police charged Stumpo with two counts of third-degree burglary, two counts of sixth-degree larceny, and two counts of third-degree criminal attempt at burglary. 

The police department encourages all residents to report any suspicious activity they see, however they should refrain from approaching or attempting to detain someone as it may place them in a dangerous situation,” police said.

The Ansonia Police Department is reminding all residents to lock their cars and not to leave valuables in their cars. Any resident who has had their car entered should call the Ansonia Police Department at 203 – 735-1885 and report the incident.”
