Police were sent to a apartment house on North State Street Monday afternoon after receiving a report of a man walking down the street with a shotgun.
A caller told police an overweight man wearing a black baseball cap was walking down the street with the weapon and complaining about speeding on the road, which is off Route 115.
The call came in at about 1:30 p.m.
Several police officers responded — weapons out of their holsters — and searched the block.
No one was out on the street, but a man matching the suspect’s description emerged from a multi-family house next to the Nolan Manor condos.
Police ordered the man to put his hands in the air, then placed him in handcuffs. They talked to him for about 30 minutes before taking him into custody.
Ansonia police said Monday afternoon that a person was arrested, but his name and the charges lodges against him were not available. It was also unclear as to whether any weapons were recovered.
