Route 8 Wreck Sends One Person To The Hospital

One driver was taken by ambulance to Griffin Hospital after a three-vehicle wreck on Route 8 Tuesday afternoon.

The name of the driver was not available, nor were the circumstances leading to the accident.

At about 12 p.m., Derby fire and ambulance crews were sent to Route 8 south between exits 16 and 15 after receiving a report of a possible rollover.

First responders went to the location and saw a pickup truck on its roof.

Two additional vehicles were involved.

The pickup truck’s driver was taken to the hospital for what was described as ​“minor” injuries.

Both sides of Route 8 were shut down for about 30 minutes.

State police are investigating.
