
OXFORD — Quarry Walk in Oxford was ablaze with joy and festivity on Thursday, December 7th, as the Jewish community came together in an incredible display of unity and celebration for the 2nd annual Chanukah event.
The event, organized by Chabad Jewish Center of Oxford, saw an unbelievable turnout that surpassed all expectations. Families and individuals congregated at Quarry Walk Green, underscoring the significance of this cherished holiday.
“It was heartwarming to witness the overwhelming response and support from our community for the 2nd annual Chanukah Celebration and Menorah Lighting,” remarked Rabbi Shmaya Hecht, co-director of Chabad Jewish Center of Oxford. “The message of Chanukah, symbolizing light and unity, shone brightly as we came together to celebrate.”
The focal point of the evening was the lighting of the grand Menorah, which illuminated the surroundings as the first candle of the holiday was lit. In addition, attendees enjoyed a fire show and a Chanukah Gelt Drop with the Oxford Center Fire Company dropping chocolate gelt for the kids.
“This event not only marks a celebration of our traditions but also stands as a testament to the strength of our community bonds,” added Mrs. Hadassa Hecht co-director of Chabad Jewish Center of Oxford. “The enthusiasm displayed by everyone present truly made this celebration special.”
As well, the event included Chanukah music and the traditional holiday delicacies of latkes and donuts, creating an unforgettable experience for all who attended.
