Seymour residents can vote on the $50.69 million budget proposal at a day-long referendum Tuesday.
The referendum will take place at the Seymour Community Center at 20 Pine Street from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m.
First Selectman Paul Roy urged all residents to vote and to support the proposal.
“I think it’s a fair budget,” Roy said Thursday. “It allows the town to move forward a little bit. It gives the Board of Education some of the money they requested.”

The proposal calls for a 1 mill tax rate increase, which translates to about $200 more in taxes on a residential property assessed at $200,000.
Total spending is up by 2.68 percent.
The school portion of the budget proposal is $29.8 million — about a $722,000 increase over the current budget.
The new tax rate under the proposal would be 27.78 mills. The current rate is 26.78 mills.
Residents vote separately on the school and town budgets. If one or or both budgets fail, the town will hold another referendum.
The school budget last year took four times to pass.
