SEYMOUR — The Seymour Economic Development Commission, looking to improve community engagement and broadcast the town’s benefits and unique charm, has hired Ashley Sirowich to the newly created position of Social Media Coordinator.
Sirowich is a student in Seymour High School’s Class of 2020. In her brief time at the school, Ashley has been selected for the National Honor Society while being active with the Student Council and with Best Buddies International. She is also a varsity athlete on the swim team.
“Ashley is everything that is great about our town,” said Christopher Bowen, Vice Chairman of the Economic Development Commission and Chair of the Social Media subcommittee. “This candidate stood out among a host of other exceptional, driven young students, and has a host of wonderful ideas that I look forward to watching her implement. Our small town is equal parts charming and competitive, and I can’t wait to work with Ashley in broadcasting that to the world.”
In her role as Social Media Coordinator, Ashley will be using social media to interact with the public, business and industry to better broadcast the benefits of investing and living in Seymour. She will put a human face on the bustling, charming community of over 10,000 people while learning about the inner workings of town government and in using metrics and reporting tools to learn how to better advertise the town.
The Social Media Coordinator position was created in June to serve as a vehicle for driven, exceptional students residing in Seymour to give back to their community while giving them an advantage in applying for the next phase of their lives. It is a yearlong position, beginning on Aug. 1, and is open to any Seymour resident who is entering their junior or senior year at any high school.
