Seymour Man Takes Art Prize In New Haven

Nathan Lewis of Seymour, assistant professor of art and design at Sacred Heart University, took top honors recently at the Paint & Clay Club’s 112th ​“Annual Juried Exhibition” at the John Slade Ely House in New Haven.

The highly competitive event attracted artists from all over New England.

Lewis’ prize-winning oil painting titled ​“Orpheus” was purchased by the Paint & Clay Club for its permanent collection.

Lewis’ painting will be on display through April 14.

Lewis will also be included in a two-person opening exhibition at the Community College of Rhode Island in Warwick.

His display, titled ​“A Life of Looking: Fred Dalkey and Nathan Lewis,” will be featured in the Knight Campus Gallery from April 3 – 27.

The exhibition has been reviewed in the current issue of Art New England.

The opening reception will be Tuesday, April 9 from 4 to 7 p.m.
