SEYMOUR – Here are some highlights from the Seymour Police Department’s calls for service from Dec. 1- Dec. 8, 2024. It is a partial list of calls, curated by The Valley Indy.
Seymour police received 202 calls for service and made three arrests between Dec. 1 and Dec. 8. 2024.
DEC. 1, 2024
1:30 p.m. Police charged a 19-year old man from Ansonia for first offense larceny of a motor vehicle.
1:56 p.m. Police issued four parking tickets for violation of no parking order during the Seymour Christmas Parade.
5:41 p.m. Police responded to a report of a meth pipe found in front of a house on Bungay Road. The caller asked police to remove it. The pipe was located and transported to the police department.
DEC. 2, 2024
10:11 a.m. Police received a walk-in complaint from a resident who said people are illegally dumping in his dumpster on South Main Street.
3:07 p.m. Police received a walk-in complaint from a resident reporting that a neighbor from a farm on South Benham Road is trespassing on his property, after being told by police multiple times not to. Resident has video of dogs, an alpaca and a donkey coming onto his property, and the farm owners entering his property to retrieve the animals.
4:22 p.m. Police responded to a complaint of drag racing on Ospry Drive and Meadow Woods. Caller estimated vehicles were going between 60 – 70 mph.
4:59 p.m. Police received a walk-in complaint from a South Main Street resident who says a person in a hoodie parks his car at Valley Burger Shack, walks up to her residence and looks in her windows. Resident says this happens at least once a week and told police she has video on her phone.
DEC. 3, 2024
7:13 a.m. Police went to Gilyard Street for a report of a toddler accidentally locked in a car.
2:55 p.m. Police responded to a two-car crash on West Street. No injuries reported.
3:31 p.m. Police received a report of a lost wallet on William Lane, which was later located in the caller’s yard.
DEC. 4, 2024
5:37 p.m. Police were sent to West Street for a report from a resident who said his cat attacked him and wanted animal control to remove the cat, after suffering multiple scratches.
9:23 p.m. Police charged a 56-year old Waterbury man with third degree larceny.
DEC. 5, 2024
7:20 a.m. Police received a call from a resident who reported a manhole cover was missing from the area of Derby Avenue and Emery Street. Police advised the WPCA of the issue.
1:15 p.m. Police responded to a report of a pit bull with a pink collar roaming in the area of South Main Street and Maple Street.
DEC. 6, 2024
6:38 p.m. Police were sent to Robin Road for a complaint of a solicitor carrying a backpack who approached her son in the driveway of her home, while she was not home. The individual was with Frontier Communications and police told them they had to obtain a permit.
10:27 p.m. Police responded to a two-car crash on Main Street, no injuries reported.
DEC. 7, 2024
4:37 p.m. Police responded to a missing persons report from the fire department of two hikers lost in the woods near Tibbetts Road. Police and fire units, along with police dogs Gallo and Argus, were deployed to the area. Hikers were located shortly after with no injuries.
8:31 p.m. Police assisted with traffic control for annual downtown holiday events.
DEC. 8, 2024
4:30 a.m. Police charged a 22-year old Bridgeport man with engaging police in pursuit, illegally operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol/drugs and operating a vehicle without a license.
9:43 a.m. Police went to Roosevelt Drive for a report of a man in his 50s struggling to walk in front of the Citgo gas station. Police transported the man to his residence.
7:06 p.m. Police responded to a motor vehicle crash on Bank Street.
