Seymour police received 189 calls for service and made six arrests between Jan. 6, 2025 and Jan. 13, 2025.
JAN. 6, 2025
12:13 a.m. Police charged a 24-year old Oxford man with driving while intoxicated and reckless driving.
5:42 a.m. A report was received about a Christmas tree blocking the road at Bungay Road and Greenwood Circle.
1:22 p.m. Police charged a 71-year old New York man with violation of state fire prevention code and second-degree reckless endangerment.
6:40 p.m. Police charged a 40-year old Seymour man with risk of injury to a child, disorderly conduct and interfering with an emergency call
8:33 p.m. Police were called to the scene of a motor vehicle accident on Maple Street where the driver crashed into a tree.
JAN. 7, 2025
12:15 a.m. A report was received about a disabled truck blocking the road at Roosevelt Drive and Squantuck Road.
12:53 a.m. Police were called to the scene of a two-car motor vehicle accident in front of Starbucks at Mountain Road and West Street.
11:00 a.m. Police charged a 31-year old Seymour man with second-degree failure to appear.
1:44 p.m. Police responded to multiple 911 calls about downed wires on West Street. Eversource was notified. The road between Route 67 and New Street was closed to traffic until the wires were removed.
10:07 p.m. Police responded to a report of an intoxicated person at Shady Knoll nursing home on Skokorat Street who refused to leave the premises.
JAN. 8, 2025
1:14 a.m. Police were called to the scene of a motor vehicle accident on Pearl Street, where a car crashed into a parked car in a residents’ driveway.
8:50 a.m. Police received a walk-in complaint about identify theft from a resident who said accounts were being opened in her name.
3:16 p.m. Police responded to a call for suspicious activity on Apple Lane. Caller found what he believed was a human knee bone. It wasn’t.
6:19 p.m. Police were called to a report of a dog that locked itself in a vehicle at a gas station on Franklin Street.
8:33 p.m. Police received a report that a Doordash driver struck a mailbox on Shari Drive and left the scene.
JAN. 9, 2025
8: 01 a.m. Police received a call from a Balance Rock Road resident about identity theft.
4:33 p.m. Police responded to a hazardous condition report of a control light hanging by its wires at Bank Street and Wakeley Street. No disruptions to flow of traffic were reported.
5:01 p.m. Police responded to a call on Spruce Street about a German Shephard being abandoned by a tenant. Police referred the case to animal control.
6:53 p.m. Police received a 911 call about a large tree on Holbrook Road that fell and downed multiple wires and damaged a guard rail. Eversource was called to clear the wires.
JAN. 10, 2025
8:02 a.m. Police received a 911 hang-up call from Fox Drive. Caller said it was accidental.
12:20 p.m. Police charged a 25-year old Seymour man with third-degree criminal, sixth-degree larceny, third-degree robbery, interfering and resisting an officer, second-degree breach of peace and third-degree assault.
1:33 p.m. Police received a 911 call from a Bissell Place resident about an unwanted person in his driveway.
2:24 p.m. Police were called to a medical emergency on Chamberlain Road about an unresponsive 38-year old female found on the floor.
3:12 p.m. Police responded to a complaint about a dirt bike speeding up and down Tomlinson Road.
4:14 p.m. Police responded to a report of an alarm going off in the area of Boland’s Plaza and Pearl Street. The alarm was intermittent and going off for some time, but police unsure whether it was house or car alarm. Police were unable to locate the exact location of the alarm but said it may have been coming from Autoworks/Gulf Gas station. All buildings in area were checked and secure.
JAN. 11, 2025
3:15 a.m. Police responded to a report of suspicious activity on Briarwood Drive. The caller reported a white car with tinted windows was parked across from her residence, making her nervous when she took her dog out for a walk. Police found the vehicle was legally parked and unoccupied.
5:19 a.m. Police received a report about two juveniles opening a fake social media account in another student’s name, where a threat against Seymour Middle School was made. Police investigated and found there was no credible threat against the school. Parents were notified of the incident. The two students were issued juvenile summons for second-degree breach of peace, and one of them received an additional charge of second-degree threatening.
10:43 a.m. A walk-in complaint was received from a Balance Rock Road resident about a stolen package containing a work laptop computer.
JAN. 12, 2025
2:14 a.m. Police were called to the scene of motor vehicle accident on Maple Street.
7:14 a.m. Police received a 911 hang-up call from Scott Avenue.
7:34 a.m. Police conducted a building check at LoPresti School on Maple Street.
1:41 p.m. Police responded to a complaint about two dirt bikes riding up and down Mountain Road.
6:25 p.m. Police were called about a report of suspicious activity on Seymour Avenue. Caller reported a black sedan was parked outside her daughter’s house and began calling her, ​“Hey mama, come over here, mama.”
6:47 p.m. Police charged a 20-year old Hamden female with second-degree threatening.
8:46 p.m. Police were called about suspicious activity in the Klarides Village plaza on Bank Street. Caller reported a suspicious individual was walking behind the vacant stores, holding a briefcase and smoking a cigarette. Police canvassed the area but found no one matching the caller’s description in the area.
