Seymour Residents Urges Support For BOE Democratic Line

The three Democratic Candidates for the Board of Education are clearly qualified and responsible choices to continue as Members of the Seymour Board of Education.

Fred Stanek has served on the Seymour Board of Education for 24 years. He previously served on the Board of Selectmen and the Library Board of Directors as well as the Matthies Foundation Board. As an attorney, Fred has extensive municipal law experience. He has worked for the betterment of the Seymour School District and he has shown that he can be critical of the system yet productive in working toward improving our children’s education at a cost affordable to the Town of Seymour.

James Garofolo, who has been a member of the Board of Education for 8 years, has also served on the Board of Ethics, the Memorial Day Committee and the Energy Committee. He is currently an Adjunct Professor of French and Spanish at Southern Connecticut State University prior to which he was a high school language teacher. He also served in the United States Army and the Army Reserve from 1966 to 2000 attaining the rank of Colonel. He has pursued a balance between the financial ability of the people of Seymour to support the needs of the school district and the quality and rigorous education of all students.

Ed Strumello, a retired educator who worked 33 three years in Ansonia as a teacher, coach and principal and also worked 5 years in Seymour as Athletic Director and Principal of Bungay School, has served 7 years on the Board of Education. He has also served on the Recreation Commission and the Board of Assessors. Ed has used his educational background to help the Board of Education make educationally sound decisions for our children.

I wish to see that the three Democratic Candidates for the Board of Education continue as Members of the Board of Education. Their educational backgrounds, knowledge of educational issues and combined experience on the Seymour Board of Education make them the superior candidates over the Republican candidates for the Board of Education.

Sincerely yours,
Rosalie Averill
