Shelton Fireworks Scheduled For June 30, 2023

DERBY — SHELTON — The annual Fourth of July fireworks show over the Housatonic River is scheduled for Friday, June 30, according to a post on the City of Derby’s website. Click here to read it.

The display used to be on both sides of the river — but has changed so that the fireworks only launch from the Shelton side of the Housatonic River.

However, the display is still visible from Derby, where streets will be closed and police will be out for safety.

The fireworks usually start around 9 p.m. or so.

According to a post on the Derby website, Elizabeth Street will be closed to traffic from Main Street to Fifth Street.

A musical concert will take place from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Derby Municipal Parking Garage on Thompson Place.

The Derby Municipal Parking Garage will be open for parking only. No viewing will be allowed.

The rain date is Sunday July 2, 2023 at 9 p.m.

The Shelton Herald sent the following info about the fireworks on the Shelton side:

The city will hold its annual fireworks display on June 30.
