Spooner House has been selected by the Big Y store leadership as the benefiting nonprofit in the Community Bag Program for January 2019.
The program is simple: Every time a reusable Community Bag is sold at the Big Y located at 401 Bridgeport Ave. in Shelton from January 14th to January 31st, Spooner House will receive a $1 donation. Big Y has announced they will be phasing out single-use plastic bags in stores by 2020.
“This is a very timely opportunity since after the holidays monetary and food bank donations tend to slow down. Every donation matters for those in need in the lower Naugatuck Valley regardless of the size,” said Spooner House Executive Director Susan Agamy. “Because Big Y will no longer be selling reusable bags in 2020, now would be the best time to stock up and give us a well needed winter boost.”
