A mechanical problem at a CL&P substation overnight left thousands without power in Beacon Falls, Oxford and Seymour.
A CL&P spokesman said an equipment failure at the substation disrupted the flow of electricity at about 1 a.m. Saturday.
The substation is in Beacon Falls.
A crew was sent to the substation and worked until 6 a.m. making repairs.
As of 7 a.m., 868 CL&P customers were without power in Oxford (16 percent of all customers in town), along with 84 customers in Seymour and two customers in Beacon Falls.
