Gilleran also expressed condolences to the family of the person who was fatally shot.

As is department protocol, the Bridgeport police officer(s) involved in this encounter will be assigned out of the Chief’s Office on modified duty until a determination has been made by the Office of the Inspector General,” the statement read. Bridgeport police asked that anyone with information about the incident should contact the Office of the Inspector General by phone at 203 806‑1595.

In an email, Alaine Griffin, the director of communications for the Connecticut Division of Criminal Justice, confirmed the Office of the Inspector General is involved.
