The following press release was issued by the Oxford First Selectman’s Office Thursday at about 5 p.m.:
First Selectman George R. Temple announced Thursday that he school system will be closed on Friday Nov. 2, 2012 because there is still debris on the roadway.

It will close at 3 p.m. in preparation for Trick or Truck activities which will begin at 6 p.m. and end at 8 p.m.
The three fire houses still have hoses out if you need water. Please bring your own containers.
CL&P requests that anyone who has damage to the power lines going into their house should contact CL&P directly 1-800-286-2000.
CL&P is continuing to restore power and is at a slow pace, but there is major damage to the power system, and many poles must be replaced which takes time.
Town officials ask that residents be patient.
“I know it has been a slow process and some people are without power, but be assured we are working very hard to get power restored to everyone and appreciate everyone’s cooperation and patience. We are in this together,’’ said Temple.
Editor’s Note: According to CL&P, 1,465 customers were without power as of 5:14 p.m. Thursday, or 27 percent of all Oxford customers.
