The Valley Independent Sentinel is pleased to announce the hiring of a third, full-time reporter.
Veteran Valley journalist Tony Spinelli joined us Jan. 3. He is covering Seymour and Oxford. He can be reached at 203 – 446-2335 or at .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address).
Spinelli, a Seymour resident, amassed 29 years of experience at The Connecticut Post.
He worked for four years in the paper’s Valley bureau, covering all five towns in the Valley Indy’s coverage area.
At the Post, Spinelli was the organization’s first multimedia reporter, filing videos for the web in addition to filing stories for print.
He holds numerous awards from the Connecticut Society of Professional Journalists for news reporting, in-depth reporting, feature writing and video production. He was the only reporter at the Post to ever win the Publisher’s Quarterly Award.
Spinelli attended the University of Bridgeport and Sacred Heart University and holds a bachelor of arts degree.
After leaving the Post in 2009 he worked in the advertising field, producing several local television commercials and a corporate marketing video.
Spinelli’s hobbies include Aikido/Hapkido, in which he is pursuing his third degree of black belt. He is also a veteran self-published rock artist, active on independent radio.
