On July 12 members of the Derby Board of Aldermen convened a meeting to talk about vandalism in the city.

During the meeting, Derby Police Chief Gerald Narowksi said that his stats barely show an increase in vandalism over the years, but that could be because witnesses, victims and even town officials, just aren’t reporting the crime.

Narowksi also talks about how improved lighting can improve the chances of property crimes not happening.

There is also a discussion of whether video cameras are the solution — or whether the city should provide its young people with a basketball court in west Derby.
