The money allocation for the Shelton public school system dominated last week’s hearing.
Last year the Aldermen allocated $67,845,000 for the school district.
This year, the school board requested $72,050,033 for 2015 – 2016.
In March, Mayor Mark Lauretti proposed $69,345,000, or $2,705,033 less than requested.
Lauretti said his budget, which is under consideration by the Aldermen, will not raise taxes in Shelton.
The Aldermen have until May 31 to adopt a spending plan for 2015 – 2016.
They have scheduled budget workshops for May 19, May 21, and May 28 at 7 p.m. in the City Hall auditorium.
