The Boys and Girls Club of the Lower Naugatuck Valley in Ansonia will host a Zumba class and barbecue Friday to help raise money to build schools in Nicaragua.
Proceeds from the event will go toward Amped For Education, a group that seeks to expand educational access in rural Nicaragua.
Samantha Mostaccio will lead the Zumba master class.
The founder of Amped For Education, Jeff Pluta, lived in Shelton briefly and his family still lives in town.
Pluta’s mother, Sue Dorne, helped organize the fundraiser.
The event runs from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday June 17.
The master class costs $20 and the barbecue afterward is $10.
There will be door prizes, a silent auction, and a live DJ.
Interested parties should contact Sue Dorne at 203 – 242-6940, or email zumbawithsue@gmail.com.
