Police: Car Crash Claims The Life Of Derby Man

BEACON FALLS — A 24-year-old Derby man was killed after a one-car crash on Route 8 in Beacon Falls Monday.

According to an accident summary sent by state police, Johnathan Vazquez was driving a 2017 Honda Accord north on Route 8 at about 1 p.m. when his vehicle veered off the roadway and struck a guardrail about a mile north of exit 23.

The vehicle went over the guardrail and down an embankment, crossed over Cold Spring Road, then continued down another embankment, police said, where it flipped over onto railroad tracks.

Vazquez was thrown from the wreck. He died at Waterbury Hospital, according to police.

The crash remains under investigation. Anyone with information should call state police at 203 393 4200 and ask for Trooper Corona.
