Dziekan Vows To Refocus On Economic Development In Derby

Retired police officer Rich Dziekan took the oath of office as Derby’s 31st mayor Saturday with an enthusiastic I do,” and a big thumbs up.

It’s been a long journey,” said Dziekan, who unseated two-term incumbent Democratic Mayor Anita Dugatto Nov. 6.

Derby’s Andrew Baklik To Serve As Dziekan’s Chief Of Staff

The following statement was released Wednesday morning regarding the intent to hire Andrew Baklik as chief of staff to Derby Mayor-elect Rich Dziekan. The pay rate has not been set. Dziekan and his fellow elected officials are scheduled to take the oath of office Saturday, Dec. 2:

I would like to announce that the first official appointment of my administration is my Chief of Staff, Andrew Baklik.

Andrew served as my campaign manager and without his efforts, I’m not sure I would have won the mayoral race.

Recount Affirms Petrino’s Win In Derby’s Second Ward

Jim Petrino was elected to represent Derby’s Second Ward Nov. 7.

There was a change in the final numbers but no change in outcome after a recount the Second Ward Aldermen’s race.

There were three spots available for six candidates.

The recount was triggered because just six votes separated the third and fourth place candidates (Republican candidate Jim Petrino and Democratic incumbent Art Gerckens) on Election Day.

‘Alderman Art’ Wishes Good Luck Upon New Administration In Derby

I did not expect to see a change in the outcome due to the recount and mercifully there was not a change.

Dugatto And Dziekan: Where They Stand On The Issues Facing Derby

Two-term incumbent Derby Mayor Anita Dugatto will face challenger Rich Dziekan in the municipal election scheduled for Nov. 7.

It’s a rematch of the 2015 contest, which saw Dugatto best Dziekan by 112 votes.

Dugatto is running on the Democratic line. She earned her spot at the top of the ticket by defeating Carmen DiCenso by 30 votes in a Democratic primary last month.
