My name is Laura Wabno and I am running for Town/City Clerk of Derby on Nov. 7. 

I previously served as Derby’s Clerk from 2005 – 2013. Like my predecessors Marion Malloy, Barbara Moore, and Joan Williamson, I believe the position of Town Clerk is one that should be treated with dedication and commitment.

Dugatto’s Leadership Measured By Tough Issues She Has Tackled

Mayors, like Governors and Presidents, can only do so much. Alderman, State Representatives, Congressmen, Congresswomen, and Senators make the laws.

When Mayor Dugatto stepped into resolve the Parking Garage debacle created by a lack of maintenance and supervision under past administrations, she was highly criticized by some members of the Board of Aldermen and others.

Izzo: Derby Mayor Dropped The Ball On Parking Garage, Sterling Opera House

Throughout Mayor Dugatto’s terms and campaign I heard the words Transparent,” Process,” and Pending.”

She opened the debate saying she’s not a good public speaker, which would indicate that she shouldn’t run for public office, especially with two terms of practice under her belt.

Debate Showed Dugatto Is Mismanaging Economic Development In Derby

I think it’s important to address some of the questions posed in the Letter to the Editor written by Deborah J. Godeski on October 25, 2017.

I’m not sure if the author was paying attention at all during the debate. After four years in office, we should be asking ourselves Is that all Mayor Dugatto has is a plan?”

Dziekan: Derby Needs A Leader Who Will Take Action

Now that the dust has settled from the Derby mayoral debate, I’d like to make my final public statement to the voters before next Tuesday’s election. 

I first announced my intent to run for Mayor earlier this year on March 22. For the past 7 plus months, I have attended meetings, gone to public events, and most importantly, visited almost 3,000 Derby residents at their homes.
