Writer Compliments Derby Mayor, Public Works

More kudos to Mayor Anita Dugatto and Derby’s Public Works Department for making improvements to our city while keeping expenses in check.

The scheduled refurbishment and replacement of the existing lighting equipment at the historic Birmingham Green in downtown Derby is a win-win for Derby residents. Not only will the lighting fixtures be more visually appealing, but most maintenance issues will be eliminated, reducing future maintenance expenditures.

Working closely with an in-state lighting manufacturer, the new lighting will utilize state-of-the-art LED light sources, saving energy usage and subsequent energy costs.

The expense for this lighting improvement is a mere fraction of what it would be if some of the existing lighting equipment, including the light poles, bases, and wiring, were not being reused.

This is yet another example of how Mayor Dugatto and her creative, forward-thinking team strive to do more with less for the long term benefit of Derby’s residents and our environment.
