I thought it would be interesting to compare what has been accomplished under the leadership of Mayor Dave Cassetti in Ansonia with Mayor Anita Duggato’s achievements.
This information comes from information available on the city webpages and published in the Valley Independent Sentinel.
I’ll let the comparison speak for itself for the purpose of discussion!
Despite legislative approval of a bipartisan state budget, a major Wall Street credit rating agency warned Friday municipalities still will struggle to get affordable credit.
S&P Global Ratings also indicated it would review the state’s faltering bond rating if and when the budget becomes law. Gov. Dannel P. Malloy hasn’t said whether he would sign the deal, though it did pass both the House and Senate on Tuesday with veto-proof margins.
Earlier this month, S&P Global Ratings warned of a negative outlook for Derby’s bond rating because of the state budget crisis and low cash reserves.
Then Moody’s Investors Service warned bond ratings could be downgraded in a number of towns due to the state’s budget problems, including Oxford and Shelton.

My name is Rob Forte and I’m running for Board of Aldermen in the 2nd and largest ward in Derby.
I moved to Derby from North Haven in 2009. While living in North Haven, I was a volunteer firefighter for 15 years and served on the Housing Authority Board and the planning committee for the Greater New Haven Columbus Day parade. These are just a few of the things that make me qualified to be an Aldermen. I have decided to run because I feel like it is the right time to give back to the city that has become my home.

I attended the mayoral debate in Derby that was held last night. It is unbelievable to me that anyone can stand behind a candidate who clearly has no plan for the City of Derby.

I believe the article recently published by the Valley Independent Sentinel regarding Derby’s financial woes (Dziekan Sounds Alarm on Derby Finances 10/6/2017) is right on target, but as Chair of the Derby Board of Apportionment and Taxation (Tax Board), I would like to comment on and clarify a few things from the article.
