The following statement was released Wednesday morning regarding the intent to hire Andrew Baklik as chief of staff to Derby Mayor-elect Rich Dziekan. The pay rate has not been set. Dziekan and his fellow elected officials are scheduled to take the oath of office Saturday, Dec. 2:
I would like to announce that the first official appointment of my administration is my Chief of Staff, Andrew Baklik.
Andrew served as my campaign manager and without his efforts, I’m not sure I would have won the mayoral race.
He is a Derby native who has proven to be a valuable asset and a trusted advisor. I know that moving forward, he will continue to help me build something we can all be proud of in Derby.
Andrew has pledged to work to the best of his ability to boost morale among city employees, increase efficiency and productivity, and take a professional approach to overseeing the daily operations of City Hall. I look forward to working with him and the rest of my team during what promises to be a challenging and rewarding first term as Mayor.
I’m very excited for my inauguration on Dec. 2, but in the meantime, I will continue to work with the current administration to make sure the transition from Mayor Dugatto’s team to my own goes as smoothly as possible.
Thank you for your overwhelming support. I can’t wait to be your Mayor!
Mayor-elect Rich Dziekan
