Election Day is Tuesday, Nov. 3. Polls are open from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m.

In Shelton, the race for the city’s top office pits incumbent Republican Mayor Mark Lauretti against Democratic challenger Michele Bialek, a downtown business owner, as well as unaffiliated write-in candidate Timothy Bristol.

The Valley Indy invited Shelton’s mayoral candidates for interviews in the weeks leading up to the election. Recordings of the podcasts are embedded below.

Stink bugs and municipal elections go together like … OK they don’t go together at all, but that didn’t stop Eugene Driscoll from pairing them Nov. 2 on Valley Navel Gazing.”

Topics included the (not so) great Connecticut stink bug invasion, with an interview with Mary Conklin of the University of Connecticut.

Then Driscoll opened the phone line to get a pulse of the public in advance of the Nov. 3 election.

Chris Bailey of Shelton called in, along with Lorie Vacarro and Ken Plavnicky of Ansonia.

Oh, and Driscoll nervously crowbarred in references to Bone Tomahawk,” Gamera,” Aliens,” Ted,” and Lost Soul: The Doomed Journey of Richard Stanley’s Island of Dr. Moreau.”

Shelton School Board Chairman: Elect Members Who Will Work As A Team

My main strategy for winning elections is to earn your vote by doing a good job. I try to be a voice of reason and consider all options so the best decisions can be made. I’m fiscally conservative. This is the most expensive election for me ever. I’ve spent about $25. I hope you’ll vote for me, as I enjoy serving on the Board of Education.

Shelton GOP: Why We Skipped Candidate Questionnaire

Anthony Simonetti, the chairman of the Shelton Republican Town Committee, sent the Valley Indy the following letter, which the RTC sent to the Shelton Voters Network Oct. 20.

I read on your website candidate responses to the Shelton Voter Network (SVN) survey questions and observed that you did not print my letter in its entirety wherein I explained why the Shelton Republican Town Committee (SRTC) decided to advise its candidates not to participate in your candidate survey.
